About Me

My photo
Hello, Welcome to my blog! My style of photography is basically 'see something interesting and snap it'. I enjoy looking for things that nobody would have seen if it wasn't for my photo rather than taking photos of something everyone can recognise and has seen before.

Foreground V background

I was influenced by the black and white portraits taken by photographer David Bailey to compose these images in the same quirky way, my twist was to create depth using different focal points in being the foreground and background.

I took all the photos in colour then edited them later on to see if they actually did look better in black and white. I really like the photo shown above both in colour and black and white, I'm having a hard time deciding which I like most.

Out of the photos shown above I think the coloured one is easier to look at, the finger looks more in focus and person is easier to pick out from the background but this doesn't mean it's the photo that I prefer. I like the black and white on just as much, if not more. The black and white image makes it easier for the eye to be taken all around the photo where as the coloured one is very bottom heavy.

I like both of the photos shown above as much as eachother.

The focus in the photo above is clearly on the background. I like this photo because it does look intentional rather than looking like I didn't know how to focus the boy in the photo. I like how it's as though is identity is hidden although it could be shown better if he was more blurred out as the way it is now, his features are still recognisable. I purposely had my model stand to the side to ensure the obviousness of the purposely focused background because centered things are usually the main focus.
