About Me

My photo
Hello, Welcome to my blog! My style of photography is basically 'see something interesting and snap it'. I enjoy looking for things that nobody would have seen if it wasn't for my photo rather than taking photos of something everyone can recognise and has seen before.

Product research

I looked at current promotional pictures for 1 Million Paco Rabanne to get some inspiration for my own shoot.

Every single promotional photo I found basically showed the same thing, it was just of the product with nothing around it only it's own reflection. This must be a good advertising technique as it is used in every photo but I wanted to do something different which was equally as appealing. These photos don't tell me anything about the smell of the actual product which i believe is quite important, they don't let me know what the product is all about. It is very important that the title of the product is clealry shown and in all of these images I think it is but on the bottom two the product does seem to be a little too far away from the camera.

I decided to then look at the TV advert for 1 Million Paco Rabanne to see what inspiration if any, I could conjure from that.

The whole advert was in black and white apart from a few scenes of gold when the product was present. Black is a very sophisticated colour and gold suggests wealth which would make a viewer to the advert think these things thus wanting to purchase the product. Props like dice, money and smartly dressed men encourage people into buying it because they intice us into thinking we might get these too. Throughout the advert the man clicks his fingers then good things happen to him, by linking the clicking to the fragrance suggests to the audience that the fragrance gets you what you want. I would like to work with some props like these to see if I could create images which would have the same gripping result.
